Update on Radio Buckie

A short Christmas greeting and update.

Radio Buckie was launched in 2015 and, since then, has gone on to produce a whole range of programmes relating to talks and reviews, music, films, poetry, performances, history,
events, businesses, voluntary groups, charities, showcasing individual talent and promoting ‘what’s on’ in the area.

In doing so, Radio Buckie has relied entirely on unpaid local enthusiasts, of all ages and diversity, who have involved scores of people in the local community to produce the wide range of recordings now found deposited on the current website.

If you haven’t looked recently, please dip in and encourage others to do likewise – see www.radiobuckie.co.uk

Since launching, Radio Buckie has been based at Buckie Community High School, but access was restricted during the pandemic, so we had to keep going purely on outreach and home recordings.

Throughout this period, we focused upon personal ‘Playlists for Life’ and programmes to support those with dementia but, moving forward into 2022, we plan to do even more outreach work with handheld devices attained from the Moray Beatrice fund. We also intend to start up a branch station in Cullen Community Centre and, with a couple of new Trustees joining since the start of the pandemic, are feeling positive and hopeful for the times ahead.

That said, we are always in need of funds, volunteers and ideas for programmes, so anything you (or someone you know) can do to help would be much appreciated. In particular if you wish to make a much needed and welcomed donation to Radio Buckie, then please contact us at our admin@radiobuckie.co.uk email address where we will be able to advise the best way to do this.

Thank you, meantime, for your past, present and (hopefully) future support for Radio Buckie.

Wishing you a merry festive period
Dr Nick Brown, Chair
